Behind the scenes

We wanted a simple video design and a moveable production setup. nOmy should feel like learning from a master standing next to you.

The think-tank Sprout pointed to problems in the food industry in 2020.

Culinary industry profiles from Denmark, Kenya, England, Nigeria, and representatives from humanitarian organisations found issues with food-nutrition and consumerism. nOmy was created to tackle these issues.

The team

We wanted a first person perspective, so you see the techniques as if you were doing it yourself.

The studio setup was created by Palle Nørmark and the team at GreatHouse Film in Copenhagen.

The setup was tested for 4 weeks with chefs and butchers until we found the right format. Over 20 hours of 4k video material and 50.000.Dkk worth of produce and food items were needed in the testing phase.

The production setup also needed to be moveable, so we could replicate the look all over the world. Why was that important? Well, if we want to talk about the signs of freshness of fish, the fish needs to be fresh. So instead of flying fish from the coast of Kenya to a studio in Denmark, we set up the studio in Kenya.

nOmy invited Chefs, butchers, caterers and home cooks from across the world to share their knowledge and skill on the platform.

We now have over 800 hours of raw footage, shot in 4 different locations.
